The Fitnessista Podcast: Healthy In Real Life

Sep 12, 2018

Hormones literally rule our world. When they’re out of balance, they can affect our sleep, mood, appetite, energy, libido, immune system, and so much more. It’s a delicate act to make sure that our lifestyle and nutrition habits positively affect our hormone levels, and it can be so overwhelming to sort through the information online. Doctors don’t often request thorough hormone level testing, and it’s a significant piece of our overall health.

I’m so excited for today’s podcast episode because some MAJOR knowledge was dropped my way and I can’t wait to share it with you. I was fortunate to speak with Candace Burch, who is dedicated to helping women discover and correct hormone imbalances. I talked hormones with Dr. Patrick Flynn in one of my earlier episodes, but thought it would be fun to also share tips and advice from a female hormone specialist.

Here are some of the things that we discuss in this episode:

- What does it mean when you have a hormone imbalance and what can you do to correct it?

- Birth control

- Soy and how it affects hormones. (I know there was some confusion regarding soy since Dr. Flynn and Whitney had conflicting views, so I thought it would be interesting to ask Candace for her thoughts on soy)

- Menopause

- How can we get more sleep (especially if we have young kids)

- The difference between synthetic and bio-identical hormones

- Adrenal fatigue and how exercise affects hormones
